This is a HANDS-ON training course! This all-day course will teach students the proper shooting techniques and fundamentals for accurate rifle shooting.
An Additional $25 will be due at the range for range fees and ammunition.

Gate opens at 7:45 a.m. Course begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Check-in at the Airgun Hall.
The Air Gun Hall is the large building with the words "Public Shooting" painted on it that is visible from Euclid and Pomona Rincon Road.

The NRA Basic Rifle course emphasizes the attitude, knowledge and skills necessary to safely handle a rifle and the basic shooting fundamentals of rifle shooting. This is a very intensive course that will greatly improve your shooting skills whether you are a beginner or intermediate shooter. The course emphasizes safety and the basic fundamentals of shooting including positions, grip, aiming, sight picture control, trigger squeeze and follow through. Students will learn how to identify different types of rifles and how each type functions. A supervised and coached live fire exercise ensures students properly grasp all learning objectives. Ammunition and low recoil rifles are provided. Students will see a significant improvement between the first and last shot. A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the live-fire section and a written examination.

*SFFA uses LOW-RECOIL firearms for training the fundamentals. It has been our experience that large caliber firearms make it near impossible for instructors to properly coach the live-fire exercises. The live-fire exercises are intended to inform students of their use of good technique AND deficiencies that will require more practice. The techniques we teach you are easily transferred to larger caliber firearms.
